This is an advanced navigation course for hill walkers with some experience of navigating away from paths and tracks. It is the next step on from our Intermediate Navigation Course and we will be teaching to the same standard as a Mountain Leader training or Gold NNAS. The course consists of micro-navigation away from paths and tracks. The day will start at 11am and finish at 7pm to give us the opportunity to navigate in the dark. You will need some experience of navigating away from paths and tracks to attend this course and be fit enough for a long day on rough ground. If you are not sure whether this is the right course for you please contact us and we will be happy to advise.

Gorge Walking / Ghyll Scrambling

Gorge Walking, a fun and exciting activity to do with friends or family, takes you up or down a mountain stream sliding or clambering your way along. In the Lake District gorge walking is known as ghyll scrambling; ghyll is an old Norse word for mountain stream and scrambling is a much better description of what you will be doing: you’ll be using hands and feet to find the best way along the ghyll. Gorge walking is an all weather activity: it’s a great way to cool down on a hot day and you are going to get soaking wet anyway so it is a fantastic rainy day activity.
Winter

All of our winter skills courses are designed specifically for you and your group and can be run on any date of your choice. We run these courses in the southern Lake District, starting near Coniston and in the northern Lake District, starting near Keswick. There will be a maximum of four participants on the course which means you can be sure of plenty of personal tuition.
