If you have never tried rock climbing outside before come along on this one day course and we will show you why we love it! This course is ideal for anyone who has never climbed or has only climbed indoors. You will have the opportunity to try a number of climbs on real rock, learn the basics of rock climbing and experience the thrill of abseiling. Unlike many other companies, we provide climbing shoes free of charge.
The course is based either in Langdale or Borrowdale. Langdale is one of the most scenic parts of the Lake District and only fifteen minutes by car or bus from Ambleside. Borrowdale is within easy reach of the lovely town of Keswick. Precise details of the meeting time and place will be emailed to you when you book.
On this one-day rock climbing course you will have the opportunity to try a number of different climbs which can be as hard or as easy as you like. We will also show you how to tie onto the rope correctly and how to ‘belay’ (i.e. hold the rope while someone else climbs and lower them back down again.) At the end of the day there will also be the chance to have a go at abseiling.
No prior experience is needed for this day: just lots of enthusiasm to try out a new challenge. We will meet at the climbing venue at 09:30 and the day will finish by 16:30. We will be outside all day. There are a number of suitable cliffs that can be climbed on in all conditions so the course will go ahead whatever the weather.
There will be no more than six participants per instructor.
We provide all climbing hardware, harnesses, helmets, ropes and climbing shoes. There is no extra charge for the use of any of this equipment.
This course is for over 18s only. If you would like to come with your family please have a look at our courses for Friends and Family.
If you like the sound of this course so much you would like to come for two days then why not come on our Introduction to Climbing course. This course is also suitable for complete beginners or for those who have only climbed indoors.
