Bespoke Navigation Course
We can tailor our navigation courses to suit anyone and are happy to run courses lasting one to five days. Let us know what you have done before and what you want to achieve and we will design a course just for you. If there is a particular skill you would like to learn or somewhere in the Lake District you have always wanted to navigate to then let us know and we will make sure it is part of your course.

Advanced Navigation
This is an advanced navigation course for hill walkers with some experience of navigating away from paths and tracks. It is the next step on from our Intermediate Navigation Course and we will be teaching to the same standard as a Mountain Leader training or Gold NNAS. The course consists of micro-navigation away from paths and tracks. The day will start at 11am and finish at 7pm to give us the opportunity to navigate in the dark. You will need some experience of navigating away from paths and tracks to attend this course and be fit enough for a long day on rough ground. If you are not sure whether this is the right course for you please contact us and we will be happy to advise.

Intermediate Navigation
Do you want to learn what to do when the mist comes down, how to accurately take and follow a compass bearing and to use all of the information on the map? Come on our Intermediate Navigation Course to find out. It does not matter if you have never used a compass before but you should have a good knowledge of map symbols and know how to plan and follow a simple route. We run these courses in the southern Lake District, starting near Coniston and in the northern Lake District, starting near Keswick. There will be a maximum of four participants on the course which means you can be sure of plenty of personal tuition.

Beginners' Navigation
A one day map reading course for beginners based in the Lake District. If you have never looked at a map or would be unsure about planning and following a route along paths and tracks then this is the course for you. We run courses in the southern Lake District starting in Bowness-on-Windermere and also in the northern Lake District starting in Keswick. Our courses have no more than six participants so you will not be overlooked in a large group.
